Chelated Rockies®

Used widely for cattle, sheep and other farm stock, more exotic breeds will also benefit from its balance of trace elements and salt.

Although trace elements are only needed in minute quantities, including just a few parts per million in the diet can transform a sickly and unthrifty animal into a healthy and profitable one.

In the Chelated Rockie®, trace elements are protected from chemical interference by a chelating agent, which makes them more available in the animal’s gut.

Chelated Rockies® can be fed when a specific trace element deficiency occurs or where trace element levels are particularly low, for example on straw, cereal or root based rations.

Yellow Rockies®

In hills and uplands, performance may be limited by lack of cobalt and selenium.

COBALT - essential for correct rumen function and production of Vitamin B12; without it lambs and cattle develop pine and lose condition.

SELENIUM - needed for muscle development, a deficiency can lead to white muscle disease in calves, lambs and kids especially where Vitamin E is also in short supply. Many areas of the country are selenium deficient.

Yellow Rockies® contain high levels of both cobalt and selenium, ideal in deficient areas where sheep graze alongside cattle.

Red Rockies®

Red Rockies® outsell all other licks in the UK with the exception of our own Chelated Rockies®. More intensive grazing, reseeding with new leys and heavier fertilising have led to more trace element deficiencies especially of copper.

COPPER - needed for growth, bone development, fertility and especially in young cattle, coat condition. Mild deficiencies are common, but may be difficult to detect even though cattle are not performing at their peak. Growing cattle, dairy cows and sucklers on improved pastures will all benefit from the full balance of trace elements including copper, supplied in a Red Rockie®.
